What is prebiotic soda?
So, what’s the buzz about prebiotic soda, and is it worth your attention?
Prebiotic soda is a functional beverage packed with healthy prebiotic fibers and other nutritious ingredients.
It’s a refreshing alternative to regular soda and a health booster that reduces sugar and chemical intake while promoting gut health.
Think of it as sparkling water, but with a gut-friendly twist!
The fibers in prebiotic soda are indigestible compounds that play a crucial role in fostering the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
In other words, they serve as a nourishing source for probiotics, the good bacteria in the digestive system.
In general, you can find brands like Olipop and Poppi on the shelves of your local grocery store, and each has unique benefits for gut health.
We will provide you with a DIY recipe for making your own prebiotic soda at home and explore the ingredients of Poppi soda and its health benefits.
It’s important to remember that these beverages are part of a balanced diet so please consider your personal dietary needs.

First, look at the following ingredients in Poppi soda that claim health benefits: Sparkling Water, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, and Organic Inulin.
Sparkling Water
Sparkling water is a great choice instead of sugary sodas and juices.
According to healthline.com, it provides hydration without adding extra calories.
It can also help with swallowing difficulty, increase feelings of fullness, and ease constipation.
In fact, a small study found that sparkling water can be beneficial to post-menopausal women with increased LDL cholesterol.
They noted a decrease in LDL (the bad one) cholesterol, inflammatory markers, and blood sugar levels.
At the same time, carbonated beverages may cause gas or bloating in some people if consumed in excess.
Sparkling water is a safe and healthy option when consumed in moderation. It is all about finding the right balance that works for you.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has been on the health food list for a while.
It is made by fermenting apples. Although scientific evidence is limited, the studies show ACV has potential health benefits.
According to Heathline.com, It can reduce blood sugar levels, improve insulin sensitivity, aid in weight loss, and lower cholesterol.
ACV also has antimicrobial properties as a result of acetic acid which can help kill harmful bacteria.
Further, ACV contains antioxidants that can help combat oxidative stress and reduce inflammation.
However, using a straw while consuming ACV is urged to protect your tooth enamel.
Lastly, if you have any concerns speak with your doctor.
Inulin
Inulin is a soluble fiber in plants like chicory, Jerusalem artichoke roots, and blue agave.
It acts as a prebiotic, boosting beneficial bacteria in the gut, thus improving digestive function and gut health.
Also, Pubmed states inulin can help regulate bowel movements, control blood sugar, lower cholesterol and triglycerides. In addition it can reduce inflammation, and relieve depression.
However, individual responses to inulin can vary, and should be introduced slowly into your diet. Please talk to your doctor about your personal fiber needs.
